Monday Muse: Movies from Books in 2014

Happy Monday! Last week has been a hectic week with all the midterm tests. I'm sorry I couldn't be around much. HUGE thank you for all the short story suggestions! It's such a big help and I can't thank all of you enough. *bows*

My class decides to pick Lysistrata for our theater performance. It's a funny Greek comedy which will not be set in Greek anymore when we perform it haha. I'm thinking of Binge by Rachel Vincent for the rewriting task in my Short Story assignment - it's wonderful and very sad! It's part of Immortal: Love Stories with Bite anthology. You should check the anthology out when you have time! :)

Today I'm going to talk about 2014 movie adaptations from books which I can't wait!

1. The Fault in Our Stars

Anyone who is around this blog long enough must have known my undying obsession with The Fault in Our Stars. The trailer is okay for me. It's so fluffyyyyyyyy. Hopefully the movie will hold more of the aching and brilliant thoughts which I adore! ;)

Read my review of The Fault in Our Stars here.

2. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Gone Girl is a very twisted story with even more twisted characters. IT BLEW MY MIND. With Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike for the casts, I hope we're going to have a movie as great as the book! You can read what to expect on Gone Girl movie here on The Hollywood Reporter. :)

Read my review of Gone Girl here.

3. Mockingjay Part 1 by Suzanne Collins

I'm going to pass the possibility of humiliating myself by gushing again and again and again how much I can't wait for the movie adaptation. Aaaah Peeta. How I wish we could have more of you in the movie later! My only console is dear Finnick, of course...

4. If I Stay by Gayle Forman

I'M NOT CRYING IT'S JUST MY HEART SHARDS GETTING INTO MY EYES.

I can't imagine watching this without crying once or twice. The second book, Where She Went, is even better with all the angry tone from other character's POV! You should read it at least once for its beautiful, heartwarming story. :)

And that's the list of movies from books which I can't wait to watch! Of course, there are still many other movies I can't wait like The Maze Runner, Trash, and Hector and the Search for Happiness. If only Anna and the French Kiss could be adapted into a movie! *prays*

What movie adaptation are you most excited for in 2014? :)

Happy Monday, and I hope you're having a wonderful start of the week! <3

  1. I'm really looking forward to TFiOS, Mockingjay, and If I Stay as well, Hilda! Not sure if Mockingjay needed to be split in two parts, but after Catching Fire I'm expecting a lot from the rest of the movie franchise. And TFiOS really does look fantastic from what I've seen of the trailer and John Green himself likes it, so... :)

  2. Great post Hilda!! I'm excited for all of these movies as well. Of course I'm dying for TFIOS but I'm also super excited for If I Stay. I adored both of the books and can't wait to see Mia & Adam's story come to life!

  3. I'm so excited about The Fault in Our Stars. I totally hope they have a midnight viewing! I'm sure they will, since it's the summer. I'm also stoked to see If I Stay (I just love the sad ones, huh? LOL) I need to read Where She Went still though.

I haven't read Gone Girl yet but I LOVE Gillian Flynn's other two books and I've had a copy since release week. yeah, I'm so behind on my own books...but I plan to read it asap and then see the film. Her second book, Dark Places, is a movie too and coming out this year as well I believe. LOVE that book.

  4. Oh my, I cannot wait for Mockingjay. I'm part emotionally-terrified for it, because this is probably the most emotional book and Finnick, but I'm still very excited for it. I really thought Catching Fire was done so well, so I can only hope P1 and 2 are just as fantastic as the other two films have been.

I didn't know If I Stay was still going ahead in the film department, but that's pretty exciting! I wonder if they're making both films, or bringing the two together in the one film... now I'm very keen to see a trailer for it!

  5. ALL OF THEM, HILDA. ALL OF THEM! First, the fault in our stars. Oh my god. I can't wait for the movie. Shailene Woodley is an amazing actress so my hopes are up there :D And GONE GIRL. That book totally messed up my mind! I definitely want to go for that movie with someone who hasn't read the book just so that I can see them react to all those plot twists. And If I Stay :,) I'm least excited for Mockingjay, for some reason, but I'm definitely gonna watch it. This is the year of book-to-movie adaptations! It's so exciting!

  6. Yes to Anna and the French Kiss! That needs to happen already. I'm kind of surprised that it hasn't. :D I'm looking forward to many of these too, especially The Maze Runner, If I Stay and Mockingjay. I'm eager to see what Gone Girl is like too, but I really need to read the book first. Great picks, Hilda! :)

  7. It's amazing how many books are being made into movies these days. I feel like Hollywood has run out of ideas! I have my fingers crossed for Angelfall to be made into a movie!

  8. I enjoyed TFiOS, but it didn't really blow me away. So, I doubt I will watch the movie. Not a fan of THG, either. ;o I do, however, plan on reading If I Stay at some point before the movie. :)

  12. Hilda dear it's been so long! Ahhhhh I know, there's been so many YA books being made into movies, it's too much excitement for me to handle haha! I actually haven't read Gone Girl yet, but I'm definitely going to check it out before the movie hits. And ugh... The Fault in Our Stars <333 I am so in love with Shailene Woodley right now -fangirling- and of course #TeamPeeta. Vivian
