Haul from the Hummingbird (#7)! ( + my rants about blog design)

Hi lovely readers! Like usual, this post is another few weeks edition! I remember telling you that I was trying to limit my books, especially my review book, but I failed miserably. *shed tears* Sometimes I wish I could read faster. Maybe then I would stop wishing for 26 hours in a day. ;)

Oh well. Enough of my rants, now onto the hauls! :) *pats my hummingbird on the head*

(clicking on the book cover will bring you to the Goodreads page!)

Huge, gigantic thanks to Razorbill, Egmont USA, Harlequin Teen, and Jody Gehrman for the review copy! ♥

First shelf

To be frank, Origin sounds a bit tarzan-ish for me, which is SO COOL. Sadly, my hope was crushed when I heard that the girl didn't even ride her pet jaguar. I mean, WHY?? Right now I'm halfway through The Demon Catchers of Milan. It's strange and a bit nightmarish and oh-so-creepy, but it's a fast read I like! Have you watched the book trailer for Speechless? I love the trailer so much, it's very simple yet beautiful! My copy of Audrey's Guide to Witchcraft is signed by the awesome Jody Gehrman, and I'm very excited! Especially since she sent it all the way to Indonesia, along with the lovely book card inside! :)

Second Shelf

Seraphina. Dragon. Christopher Paolini giving praises. 'Nuff said. :) Survive sounds like a great dark contemporary! You know how I much I adore characters-driven books. And aww, I miss my dose of historical YA! I heard nothing but very good things about Code Name Verity, so I can't wait to read it!

I can't wait to see what everyone else got, so leave your link in the comment below! :)

Anywayyysss....

I changed my blog design again haha. What do you think? My sister took a look and said, "Wow. Your blog has grown up now!" Eeek. She said she loved the previous design more. Said that it's cute. As always, I'm conflicted. But I love my new button! And the rococo chandeliers! *cries*

Err... sorry for another episode of Hilda's rants. Guess I just miss talking to you all. :) Happy Sunday, everyone! :)

  1. I love the new look! I loved all the other new looks before this one too, but I think this one is great! ;) I hope you keep it! :)

An amazing haul for you this week. Limiting books is a hard thing to do. ;) I can't wait to hear what you make of Seraphina and Code Name Verity. Demon Catchers sounds pretty good too. I should be reading that myself in a couple of weeks. :)

  2. What a wonderful haul this week, Hilda! I received Audrey's Guide to Witchcraft as well and I absolutely loved Speechless, Code Name Verity (you'll need a box of tissues for the second-half) and Seraphina!(: I didn't enjoy Origin or Survive too much, but I'm hoping you do!

I lovee the new blog design! I adored your old one and like you sister said, it was very cute. I think the new one is definitely more sophisticated though and I love the chandeliers as well! :D

  5. HILDA! Awesome haul! I love authors who send books all the way over to Asia. They rock. And I LOVE your new design, and I also love your old one. They are both fabulous and also really different. Whichever one you decide to settle on I'm sure will be amazing because you are amazing. I changed my design too, so I know how you feel! All conflicted and stuff. -.- Hope you enjoy Speechless! I can't wait to read it! It seems great and I love the stark cover. <333 Lovely haul for a lovely blogger, Hilda-sweets! xx

  7. Hilda dear, your Rococo chandeliers are absolutely stunning and I love your new button as well! I think what your sister meant was that your new design gives off quite a mature vibe. I do think it's really gorgeous, though maybe a tiny bit more colour would help with the grown-up-ness to suit you more ^_^ Hilda always gives Vivi a very sweet and playful feeling <3

Anyway, fantastic haul! Awww, too bad no jaguar-riding in Origin though I'm still very interested in that one! I've heard nothing but utter goodness about Code Name Verity as well! Can't wait to hear what you think! Happy reading~~~

  8. Oh. My goodness.
Hilda. You're new blog design is gorgeous!! I love the chandeliers (I'm a sucker for anything rococo) and the font of the header and the new button! Honestly, I think both blog designs are fabulous--the old one was more playful and whimsical but this new one looks more chic and classy. :)

And great haul this week! I'm really excited to read Speechless too because I loved Saving June!
Hope you enjoy all of them!
    Here’s my haul

  10. Fishing for compliments, are we? :) I think the blog looks great, and yeah, especially the button. The last design was more happy and relaxed and it totally matched your personality, and this one is more elegant and serious. So I suppose it depends on what message you want to send out. I love them both and I think you're extremely creative.
I am totally jealous about Seraphina. I can't wait to find the time for that book, all the reviews have been just wow. I'm totally excited about Speechless too, btw. :)
    Happy reading, m'love.

  12. I like both your old layout and the new. The old layout was fun and cute and so colourful, the new one feels more serious and while the font is pretty, it's a little hard to read, but you can read the blog name in the address bar so it's not a big deal! It's fun to change things up, right? :)

And I'm about to start Speechless today and I hope you LOVE Code Name Verity!!

  13. Hilda, I LOVE the new blog design & button! It's utterly exquisite, and I adore the font. <3

You lucky girl, look at the amazing haul you have! I adored the simplistic beauty of Speechless, and I hope you do too. I also received Audrey's Guide to Witchcraft! How nice of the author to send you a copy all the way to Indonesia, signed no less. :) And lastly- I'm currently reading Seraphina, and it's excellent. DRAGONS ARE AWESOME.

Happy reading, Hilda, and thank you for sharing!

  15. Origin sounds so good, but wait she doesn't ride her pet jaguar ???!??!!
Why on earth does she keep him as a pet then? :P
    LOL.
I can't wait to see what you think of Origin! :)
I have Seraphina too and really need to find time to read that book. There are just too many books to read and too little time.
I have a feeling that you're going to enjoy Speechless. It's amazing and the book spreads a beautiful message.
Enjoy all your lovely books, hon!

    P.S I love the blog design! :)
