The Red String of Fate Giveaway!

"An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet,
regardless of time, place, or circumstance.
The thread may stretch or tangle,
but it will never break."

I've been thinking to host a themed giveaway for a long time. I'd like to do a spring giveaway, but time flew so fast and we are in the peak of spring already. A summer preparation giveaway would be cool, but I think it's wayyy too early to do so. And then the muse came, in the name of the red string of fate!

The red string of fate, or also called the red thread of destiny, is originated from Chinese and Japanese legend. It is said that the gods tied an invisible red sting to men and women who are destined for each other. In Japanese myth, the invisible thread is thought to be tied around the little finger.

Don't you think the idea is really cute, and very sweet? Destined lovers regardless of time, place, or circumstances. Oh well... I guess this is my romantic side kicking in. Below are the list of books which I believe fate plays big part in. I hope you like the list, because I had such a hard yet great time choosing the book! One lucky winner will win a book from the Red String of Fate List. :)

The Red String of Fate List (aka The Prize!)

  1. I think I would have to go with contemporary, because as much as I love reading paranormal books I'd rather not encounter some of the creatures that lurk inside! But of course my contemporary would have to have a hot British guy in it. ;) LOL! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  2. I'd go for the world of Harry Potter. If I could Apparate places, I would save so much time, and that's only one spell.

  3. Awwwww, this is such a cute idea for a giveaway, Hilda! If anyone asks, I usually say that I don't really believe in soul mates or love at first sight or anything like that... But deep down inside, I like to think that there IS hope for sweet things like the red string of fate! The bookish girl in me is especially wishing for a soul mate to pop out of nowhere one day and say, "HEY MIMI!" Although it probably won't be that obvious LOL...

Enough Mimi blabbering! If my life had to be like a genre, I'd definitely pick paranormal hands down! For one thing, it's so much cooler with all those powers and stuff than a regular contemporary read! And for another thing, dystopians are way too freaky! x)

Love you, Hilda! Thanks so much for this amazing chance! :) <3

  4. What a cute themed giveaway! I love it, Hilda <3 And I think I've seen a bit of the tale somewhere in the past... I think it's one of the sweetest things I've seen.

Of course, I'd choose paranormal/fantsy! Yup, I still have those dreams of when I was little of having powers... Although needless to say, right now it's just a normal contemporary one LOL I'd NEVER pick dystopian. Like Mimi said, too scary T_T

  5. omg I LOVE the theme for this giveaway! The red string of fate has always been so interesting to me and having it named this is perfect. It's very romantic!

love the question too! I think it would be contemporary because there's always really sweet boys and everything ends up well. :D

    ReplyDelete
  6. Fantasy/Historical. Something like "Graceling" and "Fire"! :)

    ReplyDelete
  7. Paranormal for sure. I just want to be able to teleport!! I hate traveling that much. Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Fantasy probably :P Or paranormal. I love magic in general :D

    ReplyDelete
  9. I would so go for Paranormal or fantasy
Cus that would be so cool

    ReplyDelete
  10. My life would be turned into a contemporary if we are being literal. However, if I could choose I would want it to be turned into either paranormal or dystopian. Both would be fun.

    ReplyDelete
  11. :) I love for paranormal because i always wanted a super power, aka flying. Or whatever genre Harry Potter is, i always wanted to go to hogwarts.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  12. maybe fantasy. I'd love to be part of harry potter

    ReplyDelete
  13. I think fantasy would be fun... as long as I could have some cool power. I'd also like a funny, romantic contemporary. Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Probably not dystopian, because well, usually the world has ended or there's a really controlling government, so I'd probably have to go with Epic Fantasy... It would be awesome to live in a world of dragons, elves, magic etc.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Urban fantasy! they always have the hottes guys there ;))

    ReplyDelete
  16. Wow, that is actually a hard question. If I pick contemporary, then that basically means the 'real' life and honestly, I think 'real' life is not that fun compared to other genres like dystopian, fantasy or paranormal.

Like Mimi, I'm going to choose paranormal! Living in a world where vampires, werewolves, meramids etc exist is AWESOME!

Thank you so much for the giveaway, Hilda! ♥ Love the theme of the giveaway! So unique and cute! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  17. I love the red string theory. I think that’s super cute thinking we’re all tied to someone in the world.

Ooo, tough choice on the genre. I LOVE the paranormal world, so 80% of me wants to pick it. Living it up with the vampires, werewolves and faeries? Yes, please! But the other 20% is probably being influenced by the book I’m currently reading (Slated – Teri Terry) which is a dystopia. But I think I’ll stick with paranormal, because it’s always interesting and is my first love.

    Thanks for the giveaway

    Kim

  18. hopefully something in the cyber punk genre, or urban fantasy :)

    ReplyDelete

And thanks for a chance to win one of these fantastic books

  20. Oh my, Hilda! This is such a lovely giveaway with so many wonderful books. Thank you! :)

If I had to choose a genre, I would probably go for paranormal. Contemporary isn't interesting enough and a dystopia would be too much for a big wimp like me. :P

    Love the question!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hildaa. Thanks so much for the AWESOME themed giveaway! I loved the concept of the red string of fate!! I'd probably choose paranormal too, like Mimi, Celine and almost everyone else. Dystopian is scary, though sometimes it's fascinatingly so. (For instance, the world of Matched!) But paranormal would meet getting to meet creatures that are beyond ordinary! Which would be so exciting and different. Of course, a part of me also longs to live in a contemporary novel- but a contemp with the perfect hot YA boy <3

Thanks again, Hilda :) You are awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Aww, this is such a cute idea for a themed giveaway! I couldn’t agree with you more. Thanks for hosting this giveaway, Hilda! If my life were turned into a book, it would probably be contemporary. Unfortunately, in my real life I am terribly boring. If I got to pick, maybe something fantasy, like I could find out when I turn 21 that I am really a fairy or a witch or maybe a vampire could turn me! That would be fun.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oops! I accidentally mistyped my twitter name. It's @justineamore

    ReplyDelete
  24. Probably paranormal, because it'd just be nice to meet all them hot shapeshifters and vampires :D

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think it would be Fantasy because there are unexpected things that really happen to me. :)
Anyway, thanks for the giveaway. ;))

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think it would either be chick lit or fantasy.
Chick lit: because I want to have a nice love life, almost carefree life and a happy ending!
fantasy: I need an escape from this almost horrible world. I just need something to spark up my dull life

    Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I would probably go with contemporary. Although I love fantasy and paranormal, a lot of those situations are super dangerous and I'm quite happy to be living.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Epic fantasy... or just fantasy. You know, something like Harry Potter, Song of Ice and Fire, LOTR... cool stuff with magic and dragons and swords. :D

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  30. Holy giveaway, Batman!
I'm afraid the idea of the Red String sounds a bit scary to me because if there is such a thing, I must have broken mine at some point, lol.
Oh, and I'd totally live in an urban fantasy setting, it is my genre of choice and I wouldn't mind existing in, say, Sookie Stackhouse's universe.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I would turn my life into an urban fantasy book, because those are still a bit contemporary and modern, but also have a fantasy aspect. So I could still live in the current world, except I would have cool powers and stuff!

Thank you so much for the giveaway, Hilda! I've loved your blog ever since I stumbled onto it, and your comments on my blog always make my day! ♥

    ReplyDelete
  32. I love vampires so I guess I would be one and be married to Eric Northman!! lol thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  33. My life would be adventurous-paranormal-romantic-book :D
Cause my life contains everything that neccessary to make a Real Soapopera :P
Paranormal because I believe these kind of things and sometimes things happened that if you see as others it just seems coincidence but in REAL it's something to help me , direct me to reach my goals :)
When I was a child everybody said that I'm like a pretty faerie or angel :)

    Thank You!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. paranormal would love to meet a vampire or werewolf :)

  49. Paranormal because I like different and I would love to have some cool power!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Such a hard question to answer, but such a great question to ask! I would probably have to say Dystopian, simply because I want to see what our future world would/will look like long after my time has passed, or what will happen to the world i once knew if it was hit with catastrophic events. Love your idea for your themed giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Urban fantasy, preferably if I am come from magic. I always wanted to turn our house roaches to chocolates and give them to my enemies. :)

Thank you for the fabulous giveaway! The theme of this giveaway is very nice! It reminded me of an anime I used to watch back then. :D

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  53. Probably Paranormal Romance. Love me some sexy vamps or werewolves ^^

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  59. Thanks for the giveaway! I'd choose paranormal because I've always loved things in that category (vampires, witches, fairies, weres, etc.).

    ReplyDelete

    1. woops. forgot to put the 'why' :)
I love the idea of being able to use magic, and perhaps do the impossible. It's a nice change from all the technology and science (not that I have anything against that, I Luuurrrve Science) that's around.

      Delete

  70. What an amazing question! I think I'd prefer a PNR or UF world, like Nalini Singh's Psy Changeling world. Maybe just some Hogwarts, though? Definitely not Dystopian, and I'm quite certain that I wouldn't enjoy living in the stereotypical Regency era, either. Maybe the future, though it depends on what said future'd look like. XD Oh God, I'll probably never be able to properly reply to questions like this.

In any case, thank you so much for this amazing giveaway!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Fantasy... Only if that would mean that I'd get to meet Sirius Black!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Oh. That made me think! I suspect it would end up being a comedic/tragic biography because fact is funnier (ie stranger) than fiction...
If I could enter a different world I'd go with Amish fiction because of the peace and quiet!

    ReplyDelete
  73. if my life where a book definitely will be Contemporary.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Oooh, I love Dystopian, so that would probably be my choice. I think it would be cool to live in a future society, although with the problem that usually comes from the government, it would be pretty different.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I am totally tempted to choose something exciting like dystopian or some kind of paranormal. But that would be scary. So contemporary, because they are so cute and always have happy endings :P

    ReplyDelete
  78. I would love to be a kick-ass heroine so urban fantasy is probably the one for me. I might not enjoy it as much as I like reading it because I'd probably back away from danger. So a nice fallen angel paranormal would be better :)

    ReplyDelete
  79. If I could pick it would be paranormal/supernatural. In reality it would be a warning, a How To Not do what I did. hahaha.

    ReplyDelete

If I could have my life be any genre, I would have to say fantasy. LOVE dystopian, but wow would that be a crazy and hard living. Sorry I'm not a B.A. like Katniss, haha. Fantasy would give me all the awesome fictional magic that I love and crave, but without having to change the entire world in the process. If that makes any sense.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Thanks for the awesome giveaway, Hilda and The theme of this giveaway is very beauty imagination. I think you romantic person ;)

If my life had to be like a genre; I think I would prefer a fantasy or paranormal because... life is sometimes difficult and I need a miracle to remove difficulties. I think to have a magic wand like harry porter I just could not help myself but, I can help many people. Difficulties will disappear, and that's only one spell. Hahahaha...mind may be childish but, imagine if it really happened. there will be one person who helped many people. Such tales LOL

  108. Either paranormal or contemporary. I'd love to be able to have cool abilities, and the contemporary genre is a cute one! Plus, I'm a hopeless romantic, so what can I say? ;) Awesome giveaway, BTW.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Contemporary! But like the cutesy, romantic one, like Anna and the French Kiss! Dystopian would be cool too because it would add a lot of excitement to my rather boring life :)

    ReplyDelete
  110. Contemporary all the way! Contemporary is my favorite genre :D

    ReplyDelete
  111. Ohhhh tough choice! I'd pick dystopian because I love the danger and intrigue, but I'm not sure it would be a place I'd actually ENJOY lol.

  117. I will voluntary enter the world of fantasy adventure. since some of my favorite readings are : harry potter, lord of the rings, peter-pan, ronia the robber's daughter, and the little prince.

I think it will so nice if there's a moment i can taste the Harry's world, or travel with Frodo Baggins and meet many kind of creatures, or maybe fly to neverland? :P

    ReplyDelete
  118. Urban fantasy - our world, with a bit of a twist. I think it would be exciting to explore.

    ReplyDelete
  119. hmm that's tough. i would love if my life was some kind of paranormal or urban fantasy but seeing as i'm without any vampires or ghosts or anything of the sort my life is definitely not either of those. it's not romance either, so i guess i'm gonna have to say it's probably more along the contemporary.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Urban Fantasy because i would like to imagine my self as a strong female character who kick everyone a** =)

    ReplyDelete
  121. I'm thinking my life would make a rather funny comedy, the people in my life would sure be perfect for it anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Paranormal. I'd like to be able to meet all kinds of supernatural creatures. And in most of them the heroine finds out that she's secretly one too. How awesome would that be? Some romance with a mysterious handsome stranger would be fine too :P
